Oskarshamn

Oskarshamn is the name of a city on the mainland in the northern part of Småland, known for its harbour and trading history. Also, when the film "The Simpsons" had its premiere in Sweden, Oskarshamn was voted the city most resembling the Simpsons city of Springfield.

In this very day of today, it's also known as the city where the region finals of "(radio)P4 next" was held. A national music contest where the 28 local regional radio stations vote their best song. Finally  one of them are voted  winner in a national contest. If you win, this means a lot of publicity and could be a good start of a music career.

Last week an old student of mine offered me to play the guitar in the song he had written and was competing with. He said the whole song started off because I showed him how to play a certain guitar-accompaniment that he wanted to learn. When he practiced the accompaniment, the song emerged. When he put the band together he chose me as the guitarist and  I considered it an honor to play with him.

Five songs were competing, one song was voted the winner and... It was our song. I'm so proud and happy having been a small part of his success.
Playing the song took about three minutes, the rest of the day was used for preparations, travels, rehearsals and a lot of waiting. 

The blip shows part of the audience in the small square, todays temperature wasn't all that high and occasional drops of rain fell too.
But, a day to remember and enjoy.
