I was wandering around the back streets of old town Torshavn this morning when l came across this couple walking down to the church to get married. They were very happy for me to take their photo. Don't they look beautiful in national Faroese costume? The shawl is of very finely woven wool, a family heirloom. The whole ceremony seemed to be delightfully low key and without the 1,000s that seems to be spent nowadays.
The extra is a collage of sights from around Torshaven - a letterbox that took my fancy on someones door, cormorants drying out, fishing trawlers through a gap in between the houses, salmon rings and Torshavn watching their team beat Sweden at handball on the big screen just outside our hotel last night.
