A big evening

The palm tree provides a bit of a tropical feel to the garden.
It calls to mind the profound lyrics in the Bobby Goldsboro song "Honey"

See the tree, how big it's grown
But friend it hasn't been too long
It wasn't big
I laughed at her and she got mad,
The first day that she planted it
Was just a twig.

They don't make rhymes like twig and big any more. Actually a Bee Gees Christmas song rhymed "when I was small and Christmas trees were tall" which is another marvel of the lyric writing art.

Invited tonight around to a neighbour for an apero with a group of etrangers who meet up once a month. All very civilized and quiet with a few faces we have met before.
We thought we ought to check out the campsite on our return and it is indeed now open for the season. Finally then passing the village bar, we thought it appropriate to finish the set of Sablieres venues and managed to get a beer with, amongst others, our neighbour Alex.
Who says London is busy.....
The other excitement of the day was the arrival of our new fridge ordered weeks ago. When it stood in the shop amongst a variety of other large fridge, it did not look out-sized. After we had laboured to even get it into the house and then the kitchen, suddenly it looks huge. No bad thing though as there should be plenty of space for cold drinks. might even be able to sneak into it myself......
