Timberwork
The weather is fine. We take the tarps off, fold some, and lay others out to dry.
The first job is to fit the roof plate, fettling an inherently organic structure into something suitably square to accept modern timberwork. We’ve done a reasonable job, with walls tolerably close to vertical. It’s going to be OK.
The roof plates get pinned into position and a couple of 4x2’s get screwed between them to stop the walls from moving. We fix the trusses using truss clips - bizarrely light weight fixings that seem unnecessarily insubstantial. Next, it’s purlins - four runs per side. And then it’s anti racking diagonals.
The day is done. We’ve eaten lunch and had a visit from Ang & Saul. The roof framework looks good enough. The ratatouille is in the slow cooker - to be accompanied by green beans & tatties.
Tomorrow, we fit the gable ladders and lay the tin. Fingers crossed.
