I remembered the Footballs

Backblipped 30 Dec 2012

When shopping in Tesco's for snacks today I saw these Cheesey Footballs and remembered a friend's Facebook post from Christmas Eve.

"My Dad, who died on Friday morning, was not a man fond of shopping. He wasn't mean, far from it, but didn't understand the need to spend money, when you could make do as you were. The exception to this rule was Christmas Eve. Then, Dad would often head for the shops, returning sometimes with major purchases, including our first ever TV in 1979 (black and white of course), the colour version a few years later, and, perhaps most memorably, in 1984, a microwave for Mum, which he hid in the car boot, getting up extra early on Christmas Day to install in the kitchen before the turkey went on. Of course such shopping trips weren't complete without a bottle of whisky, and at least one tin of Cheese Footballs. So, if you're heading out today, with money in your pocket, why not treat the kids, in memory of my Dad? Or at least, don't forget the Footballs."
