The Outlander Trail
We are enjoying a weekend visit from two of Pat’s young Portuguese cousins and they were keen to see some of “The Outlander" locations. There are many in Scotland.
Today we visited Tibbermore Parish Church which is Cranesmuir Church for the scene of the infamous witch trial in Series 2.
We then drove to Doune Castle by way of Dunblane Cathedral and Andy Murray’s gold post box.
Doune Castle substitutes for the fictional Castle Leoch, the home to Colum MacKenzie and his clan in the 18th century.
We then travelled to Culross where the herb garden behind the Palace is Claire’s herb garden at Castle Leoch, before going to Anstruther via Falkland.
Falkland stands in for Inverness in the series.
Two happy Outlander fans was the result. Pat and I only watched the first episode of Season 1.
The stain glass window is in a shelter of the herb garden in the Bishop’s Palace.
The first extra is scaffolding at Doune Castle and of course they have the builders in.
The second extra is the marina in Anstruther Harbour where we enjoyed various fish courses at the Waterfront. The time of the Anstruther foto is 22.23 p.m.
