Another early wake up to catch the sunrise. Actually I had a glass of wine too many last night and was awake anyway. But the dawn over the Tuscan valley keeps on giving and did not disappoint.
I hiked around the local lanes and was blessed by a hotel cleaner who threw a bucket of water over the San Gimi cobbles to give me a bonus shot. See extra.
Later we went back to Pieve De Cellole. Such a spiritual little chapel up on a hill overlooking the vast plains below. You can imagine that it hasn’t changed in the 800 years since it was built. What will it be like 8 centuries from now.
The Sunday service was in progress but the door was open and the acoustic was giving a warm tone to the chants of the mass. As the congregation spilled out they were given gifts of courgettes or aubergines by the monks. Grown in their own little allotment just down the slope below the classic Fiat 500 in the extra.
Thanks for all your comments and stuff. Sorry I am not reciprocating but the hotel wifi certainly tries ones patience.
