The dropped stitch

Unexpected poppy

A busy afternoon at the Community Garden Cream Teas. Luckily the sun came out but it was still pretty breezy for those in charge of the outdoor plant stall.

I was on teapot duty.

There was a good selection of donated homebakes, including  marmalade cake, ginger loaf, meringues, Victoria sandwich, flapjack and scones with jam and cream.

I spent the evening pacing up and down behind the lawnmower whilst writing, (in my head), the first draft of 'Don't say what you're thinking! A survival guide for volunteers working in the kitchen at a village event'.

The single poppy cheered me up at a point when I was ready to go home but knew I should work on until the job was done..
