10 Yr Old Bonsai.....

Todays sketch is of a bonsai I began in March, of 2010.  The Chalyandra, or more commonly called,  Powder Puff, is a legume.  That means the leaves are bi-folding.  It actually is one leaf, that folds closed at night and during times of stress.  The leaves sort of, look  like a butterfly wing, only the leaf runs down a center stem.   I can always tell when my bonsai need watering, because the leaf will close when the pot is to hot and too dry!
     This plant has been around for a really long time,  is flourishing and healthy in it's pot,  even though it's only 6" tall.
