My first ..... barometer

My first ever buy from an auction at ebay.

We stayed in a holiday cottage in October, that had 2 barometers, the first time I'd had a close look at one. After a few days, I had decided to buy one for my own home.

I saw this being auctioned on ebay one morning and quite liked the look of it - but although I've sold, I've never bid for anything. When I got in at the end of the day, there was only 10 minutes remaining, so I decided to take a chance.

I won ... then after I won, I realised that I hadn't read the description properly to check if it actually worked. Luckily it does!

After reading up on barometers, I've found out that the type of weather written on the dial is really just for fun. The aneroid barometer measures the air pressure, and sometimes this corresponds with what we can see outside, but sometimes it doesn't. But then again, this could mean that I've not set it correctly??? I've had it for almost a month sitting in the fruit bowl in the kitchen, where it has been checked daily.

I've given it a good clean today, and it's now sited just outside my bedroom, to help me to decide what to wear for the day.
