Ambleside
That is after a lie in, and then a long walk. We walked from Hawkshead village on a circular walk up to a ‘small fell’ called Latterbarrow. It was a steep climb up, and a long zigzag walk back down. In all just under 3 hours, we walked 6.6 km, so at least burnt off some calories! The boys spend a lot of time searching for Pokemon on their phones...even up on the hill. I don’t really understand this latest fad, but it seems to keep them amused! I was behind for most of the walk, taking photos. I especially loved the one of the common orchid - there had to be about 50 or more in one patch. Varying from dark pink through to white. That is why that photo got pride of place in the middle of the collage.
After lunch at home, we drove in to Ambleside and wandered up and down the pretty high street, looking in the many gift and outdoor shops. I bought a scarf, but could have bought half a dozen. We had our 11 o’clock coffee at 3pm (because at 11 we were on our walk and Jon doesn’t like to miss out on his coffee!)
We got back about 6 as it was beginning to rain. We have been lucky so far, but I think tomorrow and Thursday the weather is turning wet and thundery. Tonight we are cooking pizza for tea and watching Spider-Man as there is a follow on Spider-Man movie which we might be going to see at a cinema in Ambleside if the weather is bad.
Today would have been Jim’s 56th birthday. My thoughts are with Jenny, Gemma, Laura and Martin today.
