La Coulée Verte
It's the new name (French for "green course") for what used to be the Promenade Plantée--analogous to New York City's High Line. It's a green belt built on a former elevated railway line (4.7 km long (2.9 miles--twice NYC's). We visited it at midday (for those who may not recognize her, Marylee is on the bench in the foreground). After lunch we took a bus to the D'Orsay Museum on the Seine for an exhibition on Berthe Morisot--the only woman among the French impressionists in the late 19th century. Having read a biography of her (in French) a couple of years ago we were anxious to see the show. It was excellent, although exhausting--crowded and spread over eight small galleries (not all connected) on the side of the second floor.
