On the beach (3)
Back to the beach again today. We walked across the headland again as has become usual, passing these rather derelict boats on the way out of the village. After a fairly indulgent day yesterday we have eaten very lightly so far today although it remains to be seen whether we keep that up this evening.
I've added an extra, taken on our walk back, of the taxi boat we used to take over to the beach in previous years. That's George at the helm; we've known him since we first came here 22 years ago and he combined running his taxi boat with waiting tables at Georgio & Maria's taverna in the old town, Chorio. He married a 'Shirley Valentine' type character but it only lasted a few years and she came back to the UK and became a successful author of books based on a detective working on a fictional Greek island which sounds remarkably like Symi. Despite the breakup George is clearly proud of her as last time we were here he had posters for her latest book on his boat and announced proudly that it was his wife.
