Matchstick Man and his Dog
Visited MiL today and persuaded her to go for a drive to Knott End. I hadn't been for many years and it was a very pleasant surprise. We managed to walk a short way along the front and stopped by this sculpture of L S Lowry who apparently used to visit the Fylde Coast in the 40s and 50s. He would stand at this spot and sketch the people and the ferry. These formed the basis of his painting The Jetty at Knott End which he painted in 1957. It was lovely to watch the ferry crossing the estuary. In the background of this shot is the local RNLI lifeboat. We had a lovely icecream from a nearby shop before heading home via a quick stop in Fleetwood. MiL said she had really enjoyed her day and it was good to see her walking a little too. I have to say I enjoyed the day too and would like to go back and have a better look around at another date.
