Lake Gwelup
The name "Gwelup" refers to a small swamp located within the southern portion of the suburb. It was derived from the Noongar word "Gwelgannow" meaning "to shift position". Hence, Lake Gwelup was referred to as "the lake that shifts position". The name first appears in Lands Department records in 1878 as "Gwelup Swamp"

Another overcast day here in Perth, very mild with temps around 18c, one of Milo's favourite walks around the 2.5 km lake, fortunately around these reserves they allow dogs off lead as long as they are under control, hefty fines if they are not! cant have them chasing the wild life.
Although it looks like there is a lone black swan swimming on the lake there was another one close by just out of shot, the lake was actually full of all kinds of water birds, with the heavy rain falls we have had its an ideal nesting grounds for them.
