Back in London
The alarm goes off at 5. I’m out of the house before 6, waiting at Straiton for the garage to open. Then through the rain to Waverley.
I picked a bad day to travel by train. Overhead lines are down at Grantham. We divert via Newark and Peterborough, arriving at Kings Cross 90 minutes late. I miss my 1 o’clock call, but am installed for the one at 2.
Later, I walk up Regent’s Park to meet Tim at The Edinboro’ Castle - a hip pub with beer garden. Then back through the park, as it closed, inspecting floral fountains and diverse sculptures.
To Passyunk Avenue, a Philly themed bar, for eggplant parmigiana and a veggie cheese steak sandwich. The ricotta cheesecake is great too.
