CALM WATERS

Apologies for rant yesterday, feel much calmer today.  I just got some fed up with it I felt like not bothering with it at all.  Anyway of course I still want to use it and the news on laptop is that they couldn't find anything wrong with it this time.  They can rule out it being another hardware failure and cannot understand why it has gone wrong.  Basically I'm being given the run around 'cos they don't want me to have another one or lose money on it!!!!  Anyway it is currently working OK, if it goes again I have to record exactly when and what before taking it back - although they can access report from within the machine to tell you when there were problems!!!  Fingers crossed it was just a "blip".

Whilst waiting for them to look at the laptop we did some shopping and then decided to walk along the side of the river as I've never actually done that before.  It's rather lovely down there, even on a dreich morning like it was this morning.  Typical the sun is shining now, but then we had showers.

The photo is of Miller Bridge.  Originally there was a wooden bridge across until it got swept away in floods in 1743 when it was entirely rebuilt in stone.  See the extra for information on the bridge.

I've learned that apparently there are 5 bridges over the River Kent in Kendal, 3 stone, 1 iron and 1 modern.

There was quite a lot of bird activity on the water, mainly ducks and swans, an occasional gull (I don't like gulls much).  It can be very calming walking along there away from the business of the town.

It was very busy in Kendal today.  We stopped off at Sizergh Barn for lunch and only just got in before a huge queue formed for tables.  Don't know why it is busier than usual today, maybe just because it's July!!!
