Sweet Peas or Papaver

Could not decide what to upload tonight: Sweet Peas or Papaver somniferum. I compromise and post a collage of both. The Sweet Peas at the allotment are amazing this year in terms of colour, number of blooms and perfume. They really have enjoyed the green manure that was grown in their area before they were planted. The Papaver somniferum (opium poppies) is a common “weed” in this area but I am always pleased to see it every year in the allotment. The flowers come in a variety of shapes and colours and it is adored by the bees and other pollen and nectar gathering insects.
