Lake Dillon, Colorado
I was awake early this morning, as usual in the first days of jet-lag. I met a friend from work for breakfast at 630. And a little later I picked up a rental car and drove up to the mountains to see some friends who were camping near Buena Vista. It was about a 2 and a half hour drive through beautiful scenery. I stopped only a couple of times to take pictures.
This is Lake Dillon in Summit county, with the town of Frisco off to the right, out of this frame. The two snowy peaks I believe are Mt Guyot (13,370 feet) on the left and Bald Mountain (13,684 feet) on the right. Lake Dillon is at 9,017 feet. The lake is actually a reservoir and supplies water for the city of Denver. There are several ski resorts close by, including Keystone, Copper Mountain, Breckenridge and Arapahoe Basin.
It was a fun day visiting my friends and seeing their brand new Airstream trailer/caravan. I drove a different way back to Denver. Beautiful scenery everywhere, but I REALLY don’t like driving mountain roads!!
