Last but not least
We normally dig up all our tatties in the autumn and store them in bags. This year due to not getting ourselves organised and a sever case of couldn't-be-arsed-ness we justified our laziness by telling ourselves we were experimenting.
Theory was... if you can store tatties in a clamp then why bother to dig them up in the first place. So we left them in the ground and dug them up as we needed them. Have to say it worked a treat.
Dug up the last lot today. I expected there to be a fair bit of damage be it rot or just being eaten by rodents and slugs. A few will need some scab cut off but on the whole I reckon we lost less than we normally do in storage.
Whether by coincidence or because they were left to grow as long as they wanted some of them were enormous. I think we'll be enjoying baked tatties for a few weeks to come.
