Another Languedoc year...

By SweetApricots

Well that's it then - another one bites the dust

Another one for the One Street project.

This is the tiny, resting, church in La Caumette. The other end is completely round so it looks like a rather clunky boat from the back.

Apparently it is not safe to use and needs 50000 euros to put it right. Although several people in the hamlet must be pretty wealthy having sold off former vineyards at a premium to people like us, none is religious enough to part with the dosh to repair it. Seems a pity to let the one public building in a tiny village fall into disuse. Religion aside, it seems cheap for a village hall.

Given that there are only about 30 houses in La Caumette you do have to wonder why they needed a bell. The priest could yell and everyone would hear him.

But tonight bells will ring in the New Year all over the world. What a great way of linking people. I hope 2013 will herald a rethink away from the madness of wars, that I'll consume less (in all those ways) and that my fellow blippers, family and pals remain healthy and happy.

See you next year. xxx (three times starting with the right cheek, Languedoc-style.)
