The new arrivals
This afternoon Ian and Martin, a friend, collected eight Pekin ducks that we are rehoming with our other feathered friends.
They are rescued ducks and previously lived on a free range duck farm producing eggs for the commercial sector. As they are now two years old their commercial laying life is over and they are surplus to the farmers needs.
Thanks to charities that rescue ducks ,and chickens their lives are extended and they will not be killed to produce cheap food for various meat products.
Our ducks will live the rest of their lives with relative freedom. . They have settled in well and on arrival the eight stayed in a group as they ran around exploring their new environment
The extras are the ducks arriving , and some of our other ducks in the daisies.
