Twisting my melon
An early start, flying from Leeds-Bradford airport.
At the car-hire desk in La Rochelle, I get “upgraded” to a BMW instead of the family-sized option we’d chosen. It’s an automatic with cameras everywhere and the kids decide it’s like driving a computer game. They’re not far wrong.
After heading out for supplies, George, Andy and I try the pool. Blowing up the inflatable watermelon takes some doing, but George is pretty pleased with it. BBQ for dinner (with Andy doing a fine job of cooking).
The predicted forty-degree heatwave looks more like grey and overcast, but none of us is complaining.
