Day 31: self portrait
Not a fab one, and I wasnt even trying to pretend I was asleep. The flash was so bright in our dark room that it forced my eyelids shut.
Such a long night, the wind was causing the windows to whistle and next doors fence to disintegrate. J's tonsillitis got worse and he took to pacing around the house until the walk in centre opened this morning. Gagging and retching. Gross. Walk in considered admitting him to hospital as his airways were almost closed but they decided to see if the anti bs worked in the next 24 hrs. He already seems less like dearth vader so I reckon they made the right call.
Lack of sleep and J not being able to work meant we cancelled our play date and wrote thank you letters instead.E's were particularly good and I remember how last year I had to beg and bribe them both to get them all done yet this year they got all 13 done without incident. So much changes in a year doesn't it.
Taken half the tree down but need the boxes from the loft to put away properly. I do love they way a house feels extra spacious after the decs are put away. Ever read the kids book 'my house is a squash & a squeeze'? It's like when you stay in a caravan for a week and return home to a poky little home which seems so massive you vow never to moan about it again. ... But you do lol
Had always worked new year, in fact in 10 years we've only spent 1 together. As he's had to cancel this evening it could have been lovely to see each other but he's too poorly. Currently making gravel noises on the sofa. Hoping he's better tomorrow.
Next door are having a party tonight, gazebo in the garden. The old fart in me is hoping they keep the noise down and don't stay up too late.
Happy new year everyone. You don't need a new year to make a change. You're only ever one day away from a fresh start and embarking on the life you want for yourself. Enjoy xx
