A Day At A Time.

Burgos Cathedral

Well, we made it. No problem at all, in fact.

After a modest top up (about two litres, the trusty steed managed the 900 odd kilometres from Le Mans, across the Spanish border to Burgos, without so much as a hiccup. I think she may be dripping underneath, but nothing to worry about.

We made our hotel at 6:30. It is directly opposite this beautiful cathedral and very elegant in a traditional Spanish way. After a brief explore in the drizzle, we decided on a tapas bar for some supper and sustenance. And then another bar for a bit more sustenance.

Tomorrow we head for Granada for an overnight stop and a look at the Alhambra Palace.

Now it's 10 o'clock, my companion has retired, exhausted, and I shall dive back into the rain to see what revelries are on offer here on New Year's Eve.

A very happy 2013 to all of you out there in blipspace.

Footnote: It's 11:30 and I have just been for a walk around the town.

IT IS DESERTED!!

Every bar and restaurant is closed (many weren't open to begin with) and there is barely a soul on the streets. Doesn't anyone celebrate New Year in Spain?? I am amazed - and disappointed. I came to be in Spain for the start of the new year, a new life, a new job and a new future.

And I shall probably be asleep by midnight on New Year's Eve for the first time in some 45 years.

Swiz.

Footnote 2: Well I did see the new year in - just - from my bed in the hotel!

To go with my new life in Spain, and as I am currently in the beautiful city of Burgos, I have changed my blipname from BordersBoy to ElCid.

I do hope everyone who still has an interest will find me OK.

Happy New Year!
