Jan Smeets

Jan Smeets, the organizer behind 50 years of Pinkpop (pop festival). Who doesn't know Pinkpop. Once started in 1970 in Geleen and later moved to the Draf and Renbaan in Landgraaf.
I was there in 1970. Then brought by my father in his Dafje and in 1971 on my Kreidler to Geleen.
What an experience. The Golden Earring that played Back Home live. Other bands. Awesome. But those were also the only 2x that I have been there. Then never again. Why? It no longer occurred to go there, while it is now almost being organized in my back yard.
This year a statue for Jan Smeets has been placed at the Pinkpopterrein.
