Stourhead

This is the Palladian Bridge, which has no purpose except to look nice as it would take only a couple of minutes to walk round the spur of the lake that it crosses. In the distance is the Pantheon which displays statues of classical gods - Hercules, Ceres, Meleager, Isis, Flora, Diana and St Susanna, one of several buildings around the estate.
We omitted visiting the main house, preferring to wander round the extensive grounds, watching hundreds of butterflies in the meadow, damselflies and dragonflies over the lake under a warm sun.
