'Polar Bound' in for repair

I had a bit of time on my hands, between dropping my wife off at work and collecting my oldest Grandson, who having just left school, is at a loose end and in need of some pocket money. My wife as deemed that he is my apprentice.... as the decking needs spruced up.. 

I had a wonder, and took some images round the Boat repair yard. I have not seen this vessel about the harbour area before but noticed it was called 'Polar Bound'. Does this mean it is some sort of survey vessel? I ask myself.
