Potatoes
First 2 rows of potatoes harvested at allotments and good yield from an early variety with just over 30 kg of good sized tubers. The variety was Sharps Express and the seed was being sold cheap at our local Dobbies because it had sprouted (less than £1 for two 3 kg bags). They were planted very early (end of February) but deeply to avoid frost damage to early stages of growth. £1 was not a lot to loose if the gamble had not paid off and they were all killed . But it did pay off and I’m rewarded by a bumper harvest of delicious potatoes.
