This is Kevin
Kevin is Jorge's son. He has a delightful smile. He is also the reason I haven't gone searching for the perfect tiny subject. I haven't gotten much done in between finding paints, making sure he doesn't run 200 pieces of paper through the printer, finding a puzzle of the appropriate difficulty for an 8 year old, looking for plastic pots that he can plant with seeds that OilMan gave him....etc. He is extremely polite, extremely curious and, I suspect, pretty smart.
It turns out we have a common interest in photography...he loved posing for pictures which I printed for him. I had fun taking them....
We are going out to the relocated and newly opened Willi's Wine Bar with Mary and Jerry, the same people who took us there the first time many years ago. In the interim it became our favorite restaurant for any special occasion...or none at all. Willi's burned down in the same fire that destroyed Mary and Jerry's home. We learned that it was gone as we fled our own home during the terrible fires of October, 2017. The reality of that was almost worse than not knowing what was going on, only knowing that everywhere we looked there were flames.
Tonight we have much to celebrate. Mary and Jerry are about to move into their new home, rebuilt from the ashes of their old one. It's been a long and frustrating road for them and this seems like an appropriate way to celebrate....
In other news: I was pleased to read in the newspaper this morning that the iconic hotel in Yosemite Valley, has had its proper name, the Ahwahnee Hotel, restored to it. A settlement over who owned the rights to the original names of these buildings ended what could have been a lengthy lawsuit over who owned the copyright, the National Park Service or the concession operators. Needless to say, millions of dollars, many of which probably come out of the taxpayers' pockets, changed hands, but at least this iconic landmark. will no longer be called 'The Majestic Yosemite Hotel' because of a phony copyright issue....
