Alberto Moreno's poem
Poet Alberto Moreno was one of our speakers on July 12th, and he gave me permission to post the poem he wrote for our event:
Undifferentiated love
I love that moment
When we first awaken from our slumber
And have forgotten
The story that we are
Life's victims
Or cannot recall yet
Who owes us what
Or still
Who has wronged us
Who is with us or against us
I love that moment when we cannot remember
Who we are and the world is still full of possibility for us
And for our, as of yet, unscripted lives
That in-between, nascent time
Before the stories of separateness
Have had a chance to talk and chatter
And we cannot yet say whose tender body
Is “Legal” and “Illegal”
Which children are sacred or
Cage-able
That time before the invention of color
Before the invention of migration as sin
That time before time
When we cannot yet say with certainty
Who is family or enemy
And so everyone
And so everyone is still
Under the grace
Under the grace
of our indiscriminate,
undifferentiated love....
Evan and Bella spent the day with me today.
