Wound up in Wexford

Sudbury cows

We woke to drizzling rain, which was annoying as we needed to do some washing.  Despite the rain, we hung the washing out and set off for Sudbury.  By the time we had parked up, it was brightening, so we set off for our planned walk around the water meadows and along a disused railway track.

It was a very nice walk, though we saw neither the Deptford pinks nor the Twayblade orchids.  But we did see a lesser egret, many swans and ducks, juvenile moorhens, and many cows.  The water meadows are managed in the traditional way by grazing.

As we arrived back in the town, it started to rain a little, so we popped into The Mill Hotel and partook of an afternoon tea whilst admiring the rotating water wheel that I suspect is electrically driven.

We then walked up into the town, took a look at the garden of Gainsborough's house but decided against the entry charge for the house itself, admired some Tudor buildings, and did some shopping for some fruit.

On returning to our lodgings, we found the washing to be mainly dry.
