On this day 5 years ago, I was sat at the back of a stand at the 13th hole at Hoylake for The Open.

My friends who had had 2 pints of Stella at lunch chose to rest their middle aged eyes as millionaire golfer after millionaire golfer played into the green for a par or birdie.

The one who stood out was Rory, who's fairway shot was 100 yards closer than the rest, knocked it to within a foot and canned it. Easy peasy.

Today, 5 years on he's played like the rest of us on his home track at Port Rush.

It's a silly game.
