Graduation

This is the moment young Tom graduated officially. The shaking of the hand with the Chancellor, Lord Mandelson, of Manchester Metropolitan University is the official stamp on his First-Class Honours in BSc Computer Animation and Visual Effects. I am so proud of him. 

With a state school education behind him, Tom powered through a Foundations course to enable him to then tackle his degree. Finally he was doing a subject he was interested in.  His talent blossomed. During his course he developed a helpful tool for the industry and his work was referenced by two others in their dissertations. Rather impressive and very aligned to my own view that to study a subject at a University is to help move that subject forward in our understanding and for the benefit of all.

Tom has already started in the industry, working as an Assistant Technical Director for DNEG - one of the main players in the FX world. This week he will complete his 5th week at the company. He appears to be applying himself well in the role and soaking up as much as possible in this fascinating industry. A great future ahead I think. #prouddad
