Rick Wakeman

We saw Rick Wakeman perform at my old school this evening (well, the site of my school; it’s been completely rebuilt). It’s no secret that he’s an exceptionally talented pianist and tells very funny anecdotes. I met him once in the 80s at The Dell in Southampton where I was waiting in the car park after a match (against Chelsea, I think) to get players’ autographs. He kindly gave me his as he returned to his Bentley/Rolls Royce (one or the other). I remember him being a nice guy.

What I hadn’t realised until this evening was that he was responsible for the piano on this and also this.
