In Butterfly Heaven
I thought today's picture might have been a young wren, which was stretched out on the lawn this morning, but it moved before I could grab the camera.
I did consider a walk followed by a bit of gardening but the weather looked threatening so I went through the gate into the parkland with both cameras in the hope of a better butterfly morning.
The first butterfly I spotted was a White Lettered Hairstreak, which I had been worried I wouldn't see this year, and then I saw another two, one of which was much smaller, presumably a female. They hardly moved in the hour I spent wandering around and I did persuade one onto my finger.
Tally:
White Lettered Hairstreaks
Comma
Ringlets
Meadow Browns
Gatekeepers
Marbled Whites
Peacock
Small Skippers
Large & Small Whites
Small Heaths
Speckled Woods
