Mountain goat stripping brambles
In the gully between the Avon Gorge and the Downs is an area of scrub in which several very rare and indigenous plants grow. The whole cliff area used to be grazed by sheep but when they left scrub took over. Now 7 billy goats have been given a large fenced off area to graze, to remove ivy and bramble and already after a couple of years there is a difference and some butterflies have returned that can only lay their eggs on certain plants that are now growing again. This is taken from about 1/4 mile away so not as brilliant as it could be but I liked the halo effect from the sun that has shone all day. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!
