Motzstraßenfest and Clubbing like a Berliner
We had a slow morning after being in bed so late. We faffed a while and only went out around 4 pm.
Neil wanted to have a look at the Motzstrassenfest, which is a huge LGBT Festival in Schöneberg.
We took the UBahn to Nollendorfplatz and dived in.
It was huge and VERY busy. In fact too busy to be enjoyable, as we were walking in crowds all the time.
We manage to get through all streets and had something to eat at some point. But then we needed a seat and coffee. We walked out of the Festival area and went stopped at the first place serving coffee.
Once we felt energised again we made our way back to the Kiez.
We stopped at Kochhaus for a browse, as they had sale on, then we went home. That was around 8 pm.
We had planned to go out at around 11 pm and went for a Disco nap just after 9 pm with an Alarm for 10:30 pm.
When we woke up it was bucketing with rain! Really badly, so I snoozed a bit longer and got finally up at midnight.
Forecast was saying that the rain would stop around 1 am.
So we got ready and had some food. The rain stopped and we left the house at 1:30 am and too the UBahn to Kreuzberg 36 - I also call it dodgy Kreuzberg, where nothing closes.
We went first for a beer in the Frankenbar in Oranienstrasse, then hit the SO36 across the road. This is a very old club, going back to the 70-ies even.
We had a great time and danced to 80-ies music until 6 am. The crowd was mixed and very relaxed, although I attracted "fans", every time I was shortly on my own .... but it was fun!
We left just after 6 am into blight daylight.
Kreuzberg 36 never sleeps. Some bars were still open, some Spätis seem to be 24/7.
We grabbed a photo at the Photoautomat, then headed for the U-Bahn home.
We went off Mehringdamm and bought 2 fresh Pain au Chocolat, which we ate walking home.
Despite several beers over the night I felt quite fresh.
At home I had my obligatory cup of tea and we went to bed just after 8 am.
It was a great night and we will certainly do more Berlin clubbing in the future.
Blipping Kiki Cessler - she was performing at the street festival, singing German "Schlager" and had a huge fan crowd!
