The Days of Austerity have Arrived

The excesses of the last week are now officially over...... for now at least.
At times it felt like a competition to see how much could be eaten in 5 days, and I might have won. But I’m home now and austerity of ingestion is the order of the day.

Thank you all so much for your kind comments on that 10th Blip birthday of mine yesterday. I did appreciate them, especially as they came at the culmination of a very enjoyable week with friends from Chichester and Kelso.

Last night we had a valedictory meal in a local hotel before watching Kelso’s ‘braw lad’ and his supporters return with the town’s standard intact, followed by the mass of riders cantering back from their 52 mile journey round the marches. The late sun shone on the townsfolk lining the square while the brass band and pipers marched ahead of the horses-it seemed the whole town was en fête.
