Playing with the idea of `old and new’ - again!

Harder than it looks - I didn’t take many images this morning as I wasn’t really happy with what I’d done.  I wanted to take a few test shots just to get an idea if this might work.  My first efforts were rejected by our project group because `everything looked old’!  In that version the cup and saucer are very contemporary but if that’s what people felt then I guess a judge might feel the same way.  I thought that they would have to admit that the rose was `new’  but one rose doesn’t quite seem enough to make this composition work.  I’ve also been working on an `old and new’ boat photo that I took in Venice a few years ago and carried out their suggestions (the one I showed them was mono with a hint of blue).
