Brig an Mills

A breezy day, but the mist lifted over night, and been a sunny and warm day.  Clouded over this evening.

Up early, and made a start to tidying up the house after breakfast.  Most of the chores down, and headed out for a walk around the isle.  Popped in to the kirk for a look, and then on to show mam and dad North Banks.  Popped by Donna and Derek for a yarn, before heading back for lunch.  After lunch, more walkies.  Around Fore Wick, and then to Hamnavoe.  BBQ for tea, and then to the ferry.  Plenty of folk heading out tonight, after a weekend in clipping sheep.  I may be on holiday, but still have a few pub shifts, and working tonight.

Me, mam and Sammy headed out west along the old meal road, with plenty to look at, and plenty of birds too.  The meal road came down to the old meal bridges, and the Dutch water mills.  The meal roads were built in the 19th century, where folk got paid oats for their hard work.  There are only a few examples left in Shetland today.  This bridge is in remarkable condition, and so are the mills too.  Taken near Hamnavoe, Papa Stour.
