Sweet surprises

First thing I saw after opening the curtains this morning (despite the fog) was this little juvenile woodpecker on the garden nuts. Took lots of snaps, but this one pleased me as the bird's 'chinstrap' lines up so completely with the inner curve of the feeder.

My Extra is a collage of an earlier surprise - actually belonging to yesterday evening - when, for the first time ever, I spotted a hedgehog in our garden. The pictures are very grainy but form a record of its appearance. It kept very still when I popped out to offer it some of the birds' suet-cum-mealworm pellets, but as soon as I was back indoors it was tucking in happily.

The final surprise that I'm very happy to share was A Good Night's Sleep - and a painfree one! My finger has obviously turned a corner. Still can't knit with it yet, but no worries.
