There and back again

Waiting for the builders

In February 1972,  I and my family were posted to Axminster Police station in East Devon where I joined the small staff of some nine constables and two Sargent's who together policed this corner of  east Devon adjoining the Somerset and Dorset boarders and lived in one of the nine three bedroom police houses surrounding the Police Station. It was the sort of station the children could call into say "allow" on the way home from school and we had their Christmas party in the Magistrates Court with the Traffic Warden as "Father Christmas"    That's all over now, and all the Police properties  are sold we are waiting for the builders to come and redevelop the sight
I bought  my house from the Police and am the only one here from those days.
