A dagger!

The Grey Dagger moth Acronicta psi. What quirks of fate have produced a coloration that provides excellent camouflage when sitting on a garage wall harled with crushed Skye marble?

The last time that I saw the species in our garden it was in the form of a caterpillar which is a riot of colours compared to the grey adult!
