Round The Back

The first thing you see when you drive into our town from the south is the ruin of a 12th Century abbey. From that angle it seems to dominate, but actually the streets behind nestle right up against it. This is the back view, and the houses date from many eras. One of them is where William Wordsworth stayed when he visited. I don't think it inspired him to verse.

There weren't many people about today. Maybe the forecast of storms put them off, and as it turned out, the sun shone brightly - too brightly - all afternoon.
