Harbour
We are spending a few days in St Ives in Cornwall. We haven't been here for 20 years, but there is a lot to see and do here in the limited time we have.
Today was dull and grey at best, and pouring with rain at worst - but it didn't stop us. After a relaxed start (and a large hotel breakfast) we wandered into the harbour area. The tide was out leaving all the boats stranded on the sand. I quite liked the bright red of these inflatables and the weed covered ropes.
This aftenoon we spent a lot of time visiting the Barbara Hepworth museum. Hepworth and her husband Ben Nicholson moved to St Ives at the beginning of the second world war, and in 1949 she bought Trewin studio where she lived and worked for the rest of her life. This studio is now a museum and sculpture garden and well worth visiting. Her studio and workshop is pretty well as she left it when she died in 1975 and the lovely, natural garden is decorated with many of her works. It is a very peaceful place.
This evening we enjoyed an excellent meal at a restaurant on St Ives beach with lovely views out over the sea. We shall sleep well this evening.
(Another back blip because of the lack of decent internet at the hotel.)
