Large Red Damsel Fly

I don't see red damsel flies often but there were quite a few flitting around today and I was pleased to get nice shots of one or two.  

I had to go for a routine blood test today and usually it's a problem for the nurse to find a vein but today's temperatures made everything much easier in this respect and it was good to go home without having had the usual prodding and bruising. Apart from an early walk we've just enjoyed being in the garden -  there's been a nice breeze so although temperatures were high it's been very pleasant.
