Holy Island

The main inspiration for this half of the week's trip was Liz suggesting I came over to meet with her family & friends' holiday in Seahouses. So, today, we met up on Holy Island.

Before they arrived, I had a sneaky jaunt around half of the island. I'd been watching hoards of cars pulling into the car park and decided it would be lovely to have some lone time first so headed in the opposite direction to everyone else. It was beautiful in the grassy sand dunes. Lots of flowers and butterflies, a few burnet moths and plenty of other insects for company. At one point, I thought I was going to have an epic finding my way back but, just as I started to doubt my sense of direction, a house on a hill appeared as I popped up into the top of a sand dune. That'll be Lindisfarne Castle then. Phew!

It worked out well as Liz & Co were a hundred metres up the road on their way to the castle. I caught them up and we enjoyed a saunter there, a saunter back and a coffee shop chit chat before heading our separate ways.

A great way to spend the day.

We're now chilling out back at the ranch and Rich has just finished the last of a successful week's Dolomites climbing. All happy.
