This afternoon we went to Virginia's funeral. Really it was a celebration of a life well-lived over 92 years. Virginia had been a director of nursing education in Manchester at the end of her career, which she was forced to leave because of ill-health. The photo on the back of her order of service was one I took at her 90th birthday party. She had had her nails specially done for the occasion.

Today I wore purple, which was Virginia's favourite colour, and this brooch, which she gave me (and a similar one to the other Alison) just before we left for Zambia in April this year. Virginia told us to wear the brooches and think of her. So that's what I did today :-)
