Summerlee
B and I took my Gran to Summerlee Heritage Museum today. She had an excellent time, we all did. We had lunch first, then a look around the museum.
There was lots of reminiscing, about mining (her dad, and most of the men in her family were miners), going dancing, shopping at the Cooperative, buying Kings sweeties, riding motorbikes and even Harry Lauder.
This is the old tram that you can get on, it takes you down to the old miner's row of cottages, which are all authentically furnished to represent different decade from the last century and a half. My Gran was born in a miner's row in 1919 and the interiors were very familiar to her.
The extras show my gran and B enjoying the museum.
